Assisi Farm and Training Centre (AF&TC) is a non governmental organization which was started in 1975 at Thadikarankonam, in Kanyakumari district, TamilNadu, South India. Since its inception, it is committed to work for the well being of the community.
AF&TC is the manifestation of the strong aspiration and conviction of the founders Sr.Stella and Sr.Monica with the unconditional support of Australian Philanthropists. Initially its focus was the development of a diary farm and it was the strategy adopted for helping the poor. Latter training programme were started for the villagers on dairy management with the support of District rural development Agency (DRDA). |
Gradually, AF&TC entered into various community development activities and training programmes for the sustainable development of tribal, women, children, Dalits and vulnerable communities in Kanyakumari, Thirunelveli and Kanchipuram districts of Tamilnadu.
AF&TC is not only a programme implementation agency per se, but an incubator and inventor of development interventions for the tribal vulnerable communities of South India. Given its professional team, access to internal and external stakeholders and its learning’s from the thirty years of development work in different sectors such as Women, Child rights, governance, livelihoods and agriculture.
